Abstract
The aim of this study was to reduce the consumption of zinc oxide by modifying the common formulation of transparent glaze of floor tiles (fast firing) using strontium oxide. The glazes were prepared in two ceramic systems SiO2–Al2O3–CaO–MgO–K2O–B2O3–SrO and SiO2–Al2O3–CaO–MgO–B2O3–ZnO. To compare and evaluate the junction of the body and the glaze, the cross-sectional area of the samples was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and also the thermal behavior of both glazes was compared using a hot stage microscope (HSM). Additional tests were performed on the particle size distribution of glaze slurry and fuzzy analysis (XRD) of ferrite glaze was performed for both samples. The results of the research were in accordance with Iranian National Standard No. 25.
